Tamar

Tamar was the daughter-in-law of Judah whose story reveals determination in the face of injustice and abandonment. After the deaths of her husbands Er and Onan, Judah failed to fulfill his responsibility to provide his remaining son, Shelah, according to the family obligation of the time. Tamar took bold action to secure the future that had been denied to her. She became the mother of twins, Perez and Zerah, and through Perez entered the lineage of King David and ultimately Jesus Christ. Tamar’s story reflects survival, justice, and the preservation of a significant biblical legacy.
